Semi-permenantly Untitled A Prequel To HeyK-chan! The Unnamed Fanfic by Swingin' Saturn [hota713@aol.com] The following is the of-yet unedited version of the above mentioned tale. it was written by Swingin' Saturn using characters from Naoko Takeuchi's Sailor Moon, and Koi (beautifulpsycho@innocent.com) Waters' own Kerr. Remaining characters are the author's own. Enjoy! -KW ------ It was a typical Saturday night in Tokyo. The streets were still filled with people, despite the time. However, the Tsukino house was rocking with excitement, at least in the basement. For while three-fifths of the family watched the latest conquests of Sailor V in their living room lit only by the bluish glow of the screen, Usagi was having a big bash in the basement to celebrate summer. To the music provided by the guests and Usagi, blasted out by Chibi-Usa, who had been promised pancakes for lunch everyday during summer if she would please, please do this, a great deal of Tokyo's teenage population danced or schmoozed the night away. All of Usagi's best friends were there, Ami, who was chatting with a boy from her Advanced Chemistry class about the periodic table...or something like that. Rei was grinding with her new boyfriend (not a pretty sight) who was really just a rebound boy after her last, short-lived fling who was also technically a rebound boy after another, much older guy she'd gone out with as a rebound boy after the only serious relationship of her pitiful life which was with Mamoru who she still hadn't gotten over. ::GASP:: Anyway, Makoto hung around by the punch bowl talking to a tenth grader (Oooh, go Makoto! -.^) about martial arts and stuff. Minako was actually dancing with one drooling guy after another and all the while playing with her hair. Haruka and Michiru stood in a dark corner, speaking softly with each other. Setsuna stood in the shadows of another corner close to Chibi-Usa. Usagi glued herself to Mamoru and they danced close the whole night no matter what the tempo of the song really was. Observing this from a couch along a cold hard wall, next to Naru and Gurio who were making out, was Hotaru. Although she was wearing a long-sleeved shirt and black tights under her short skirt, Hotaru still felt cold. She glanced all about the room, lit solely by her lamp collection. But there was one lamp on a table next to her that she didn't recognize. It was a Lava Lamp with a black top and base and blue wax in the middle. She sighed and wondered who else would have brought it. As she tore her gaze away from the lamp, she began to observe a group of darkly dressed people, such as herself. One of them particularly caught her eye. He was a little taller than her, about a head from as far as she could tell, and was thin. yet muscular. He wore a white shirt with a black button-down shirt with silver dragons screened onto it; his pants were also black, and semi-baggy, but tasteful. His hair was black and kind of long, as it hung in his dark eyes. Atop his head sat a pair of black rimmed "nerd" sunglasses with yellow lenses. He held a small plastic cup of blood-red punch in his hand and a scantily dressed girl hung on his shoulder and played with his hair. He glanced over Hotaru's way and caught her looking at him. He handed the cup to a friend and dropped the girl off his shoulder. Then, he casually strolled toward Hotaru who was beet-red with embarrassment and gave her a crooked grin. "Hey, I'm Kerr. And you are?" He said, extending a hand. His voice was a beautiful, rich mezzo-tenor that Hotaru found herself hypnotized by. (For those non-musicians out there reading this, mezzo-tenor means kinda deep, but not too deep.) "I'm Hotaru. I'm sorry for staring at you, I really wasn't, see, I was looking at the wall behind you-" she rambled quietly, not daring to look into his eyes because she knew that she would be trapped there forever. But before she could go on any further, he placed a finger to her lips, silencing her.. "Don't worry about it. In fact, you kind of caught my eye. So, you wanna dance?" he asked, still grinning warmly. Before Hotaru could answer, she found herself standing up and being led to the dance floor. When he had her close to him, she found her ability to speak again. "I've never done this before," she whispered, feeling really awkward. "Don't worry about it. Just stick with me and you'll be alright," he responded soothingly. He looked up a moment at Chibi-Usa and jerked his head and lifted his eyebrows. Chibi-Usa nodded, put a new CD in and gave him a thumbs-up. He grinned as the music introduction came on. "What song is this? It's in English, it's beautiful, "Hotaru breathed. "It's from a play. It's called Only You," Kerr explained. (Okay, I don't know where he'd have gotten this CD, but the song is so perfect for this story and it's my story so NYAH!!!) Hotaru closed her eyes and felt herself swaying from side to side with the foreign music. Altogether way too soon, the song ended and Hotaru feared she had to part with Kerr, but he still held onto her as the next song came on. They danced together for a long time until a guy tapped Care's shoulder in the middle of a sentence. Hotaru and Kerr slowly pulled away from each other, grasping their fingertips til the last second. In a daze, Hotaru fell onto the couch, mind in the clouds. But the fluffy clouds she danced upon turned to black thunderclouds when she saw Haruka coming toward her in a huff with Michiru close behind, looking worried. "Hota, what were you doing with that-that guy?" Haruka demanded hands on her hips. "I was dancing with him, he likes me and I like him. So what?" Hotaru cried, throwing her arms out to the side. "So he is the biggest jerk, the biggest player in the school! He cheats, lies and goes with girls because they're easy. Hota, I do not want you to see him ever again, ever!" Haruka yelled and stomped off in a fury. Flustered, Hotaru gestured to Michiru, why did she do that? "Hota-chan, Kerr is known to be a lot of bad things at our school Haruka just doesn't want you to get hurt, like Elsa. I don't want you to get hurt either-" Michiru began, but Hotaru wouldn't hear it. She ran off with tears streaming down her cheeks to the bathroom upstairs by Usagi's room. She crouched in the corner, tears still streaming down as she heard a knock at the door. She glanced up and answered, "C-c-come in." "Hey, Hotaru. Wow this is what you do at parties. Boy, I can't believe I've been missing all this fun in the bathroom," came a deep, dark voice from the shadows. Kerr's head emerged and as usual, his glasses sat on his head and a tendril of hair fell in his eyes. "Kerr! Tell me it isn't true, about what Michiru and Haruka said!" she sobbed, throwing herself into his arms, and shaking with her sobs and coughs. "I would tell you, but that would be lying and I don't want to do that to you," he responded, stroking her hair. She looked up at him. "You mean it's true? You really did do that to Elsa? No wonder Haruka hates you so much," Hotaru said. "Yeah I guess so. I wish I could explain this to you, but I can't. Not right away at least, but maybe someday." "I'll understand! I know we just met, but I feel somehow drawn to you and I know this will sound dorky, but I feel drawn to you like a-" "Moth drawn to flame," they both said at once. "How'd you-"Hotaru began in astonishment, staring up at Kerr. "Like I said, I can't tell you now, maybe not ever, but maybe someday you can know, but not today," Kerr answered with worry knot on his brow. He geld Hotaru close to him, closed his eyes and went back one thousand years... It was a typical night in the Moon Kingdom; Queen Serenity was throwing one of her usual nightly balls for everyone who could attend. Quite literally, everyone, farmers and their wives even dressed up in their Sunday best and had a hoedown in the corner. Princess Saturn had been there for about a year without any confrontation, so everyone assumed they were safe. She, Princess Serena, Prince Endymion and the other princesses and their generals laughed and talked by the garden gate. "Oh Endymion, you're so funny! Oh that reminds me, Saturn I want you to meet someone. Endymion, can you go find Kerr? I know he's home from the Wars so he must be here!" Serena cried as she hung on Endymion. "Yeah, sure. I'll go get him. Just hang on a minute." He dropped Serena's arm off his shoulder and walked off. "Oh I just know you're going to love him, Saturn! His name is Kerr, I know it's an earth name, but I heard his parents went there and fell in love with the name and just had to give it to him. I don't know what it means, but it sounds so wonderful, doesn't it?" Serena gushed, grasping Saturn's hands. Saturn just shrugged and looked uncomfortable. On the other side of the room, a group of young men and women about Endymion's age loitered, laughing and drinking wine. One of them had a crooked grin on his face and dark hair in his eyes. "Kerr," Endymion grumbled. "Oh, hello, Endymion, did you get lost in the ballroom?" He responded coolly. "No, I don't think so, why?" Endymion said in confusion, his brow furrowed. "Then what are you doing over here?" Kerr asked just as cool as before. His friends snickered. "I need to talk to you, "Endymion growled, not used to being made fun of. "You need to talk to me? Oh this is a good day, not only am I not on duty for you, but I get the chance to talk to you! Just imagine, little ol' me, talking to the great prince of earth! What an honor!" Kerr exclaimed, throwing his arms in the air, almost spilling wine on one of his friends whom was al roaring with laughter by now. "Don't get the idea for one minute that I'm doing this voluntarily. I don't even like you! Serena wants you to meet one of her friends and she sent me to get you!" Endymion cried, flustered. "Let's see, what should I do? I could spend my precious week here with my friends or with ditzy girls. What a dilemma, I just don't know what to do!" Kerr said with a mock sigh. While he spoke, a red-haired girl in a black dress draped herself around his neck and shoulders. When he took note of Endymion's glare, he shook the girl off and followed Endymion to the girls. "Here he is Serena, I found him for you," Endymion reported to Serena a moment later. "Hooray! Kerr, how have you been lately? Is everything going alright for you in the Wars?" Serena cried, running to him and giving him a big, strangling bear hug, which really made Endymion boil with anger. "Endymion tells me you have a friend for me to meet," Kerr said stunned by the suddenness of the hug and the manner in which it was given, but he still managed to growl Endymion's name. "Kerr, I'd like you to meet the real princess of Saturn," Serena announced, pushing Saturn forward. "Hello, "she whispered, looking at the marble floor. His crooked grin vanished and he brushed the hair out of his eyes. He could not believe the beauty of this tiny creature that stood before him. Her dark, purplish hair danced with the wind and billowed slightly. Her eyes were purple pools that never wanted to end. The satin dress she wore was sleeveless, but came up in a point by her neck that was attached to bands of silver around her neck. The dress itself was long and deep purple with a slit up to the middle of the pencil-thin thigh. She was small, about a head shorter than he was and thin as the Silence Glaive of Saturn. "Hello, my name's Kerr. W-w-would you like to dance?" Kerr stammered offering his hand, which she accepted and weakly shook. I suppose. I'll be right back, Jupiter." Saturn waved to her friends as she walked out to the dance floor with Kerr. "So, have you been to the Asteroids yet?" Kerr asked after a moment of silence that could have been ten moments of dead air. "No, I'm afraid not. Have you ever been to Saturn?" she responded curtly. Then she looked down from his black eyes that softly bore into her soul. He gave her a warm smile, "I'm sorry, I've been a little rude." "I understand. It's hard to leave a place you've been happy at for so long than coming to a new place with a new culture. I know how it feels. I am the prince of the Asteroid Kingdom. When I was young, we lived happily as a separate entity from the Moon Kingdom, but still allies. So when the Moon Kingdom got mixed up in a war and asked for our help, we readily said yes. But Endymion, who was about thirteen then, too young to be leading an army demanded that we merge with the Moon Kingdom. We felt pity for Serenity, so we agreed to join, thinking it would be temporary and we wouldn't have to change at all. But we were so wrong; Endymion treated our armies like a big dumb infantry of little children with wooden sticks! We were forced to totally change our culture and our ways! Well, enough of my tragedy, how about you? What's your story?" Kerr explained with bitterness obvious in his voice. "I guarded Heaven. I never dared to peer through the bars of the Gate, but I know it was beautiful. Princess Serena convinced me one day to come with her, just for one night. So I did and it was wonderful. I was gorgeous and everyone was hypnotized by me. I never smiled so much, ever. But when I tried to go back the next morning but I couldn't get as far as the gates to my Palace-" Saturn began, her voice occasionally breaking, but at the end she broke down in tears. "Ssh, it's alright. I shouldn't have asked you about it. Come, we'll get out of the crowds and never talk about our pasts again," Kerr held her close and rested her head on his strong chest. He led her out to a garden and they sat down on the edge of the fountain pool. He took his suit jacket off and raped it around her thin, shaking shoulders. "Are you okay now, Princess?" Kerr asked worriedly. She wiped her eyes and nodded. "Yes, I'll be fine. I need to get over it. What's in the past, is in the past. It's best to leave it there and not let it affect the present." she responded, drying the last tears from her eyes. Then she turned to look at Earth. It sparkled and gleamed like a beacon for lost souls. It pained her to look at it. The same souls that had loved her were from Earth; they had also deserted her when she needed them most. "I hate it too. I never wish to see it, ever," Kerr growled, clenching hisfist. "I don't hate it. It's hard to hate a place that gave you so many friends, so many cherished memories. I don't hate anyone or anything," Saturn replied wisely. She turned back to look at him. When he looked in her eyes, he didn't see himself; he saw a cloud of happy faces, as if they'd gone home after being gone for many months. Even though he'd never meet them, he felt like he knew them like old friends. The faces kept changing, kept appearing and reappearing. "You see them? Yes, my eyes aren't normal. They've been there for too long and I miss them too much. They were going to protect you all but because of me, they will have forgotten their promise by the time it comes," she went on. "Wait, when what comes? Why does the Moon Kingdom need protection?" Kerr asked in desperation. "I can't tell you! I don't know when it will come or much else about it for that matter. But it will happen, nothing can last forever," Saturn cried, beginning to ramble. "I had a feeling this would happen. I know nothing lasts, but I had no idea it was this soon," Kerr said worried. "How do you know about this?" Saturn burst out. Realizing what she had said, she quickly covered her mouth. "Don't worry. I knew of the end for a long time. An asteroid observes everything, as do I. Since there's nothing we can do about this, how about we take a walk?" Meanwhile, back in the palace, Serena and her friends were very excited for the still absent Princess Saturn. "They really must have hit it off! They've been gone for a long time now!" Serena cried. "Maybe they have, but I don't think he likes us very much," Mercury added.. "No, he just doesn't like me very much," Endymion said, sheepishly. "Oh yes. I forgot you two have that little quarrel between you," Venus replied. The other girls shrugged. "You two should really try to settle this, it's getting really old. I honestly don't see why you can't work it out," Neptune commented, coming out of the shadows. "Why should I? He's never done anything for me," Endymion protested throwing his arms in the air. "Hey, I got an idea! Let's go see what they're doing!" cried Venus, ready to dash out the door. "No, let them be. We shouldn't disturb their fun," Jupiter argued for them. "Well, they have been gone an awfully long time and neither of them know their way around very well, so..." Mars reasoned, siding with Venus. "I agree with Jupiter. You wouldn't like it very much if they were spying on you," Mercury stood by Jupiter. Mars and Venus glanced at each other and dashed out the door, closely followed by Serena who grabbed Mercury and Jupiter's wrists and dragged them along. "So she really wasn't dead?" Kerr asked as they strolled through the bed of daises. "No! She wasn't supposed to die for fifty years, she was sleepwalking and found the stairway in her oven!" Saturn replied, finishing a story, then laughing with Kerr at it. Just then, they heard snickers and giggles coming from the bushes. "Who is it? Who's there? Show yourself!" Kerr cried, jumping up and whipping a dagger out of his boot. Mars, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter and Serena appeared guiltily. Kerr rolled his eyes and put his dagger away. "Well, you two had been out there for such a long time, that we got worried and decided to check on you," Serena sheepishly explained, hanging her head slightly. Kerr gave them a glare and taking the hint, they crept back inside. "Alone again," Kerr whispered. "I'm sorry, Kerr. But you know them, they're-" Saturn began to apologize, but they saw Luna running at full speed yelling at the top of her lungs, "We are attacked! Transform, Saturn! General Kerr, you're better be ready for battle! It's Queen Metallia and her minions! Endymion's generals have turned on us! Hurry!" As Luna dashed away, Saturn and Kerr glanced at each other and grasped hands for the last time. Saturn transformed into Sailor Saturn, wielding the Silence Glaive in her free hand while Kerr brandished his sword in his free hand. "Kerr, we'll meet again, one day. It will be many, many years from now, but I swear by Saturn that I will know you," Saturn vowed to him bravely, yet her eyes brimmed with tears. "And I also swear that I will seek you forever and ever if we do not meet right away," Kerr vowed back to her. For a moment, they forgot the end of everything and gazed into each other's eyes. He bent over and gave her a kiss on her thin, pale cheek, turned and left for the battlefront. As she watched him go, she touched a hand to the spot where the impact of his lips was still burning. Then she took note of the fires and evil in the air. Glaive in hand, she swallowed all emotions and ran into battle. The two died at the same time. Kerr had just finished off an enemy that dealt him a fatal wound. Saturn though, had taken her own life by using too much destructive power, which finished off a whole ten regiments in doing so. The next one thousand years, as they say, are history... The next day, Kerr met Hotaru at her house. She was waiting for him on her doorstep and ran to him when he came. "So where are we going, Hota?" he asked, putting his arm around her. "I told Usagi we'd meet her and everyone else at Crown Game Centre. Is that okay?" Hotaru responded, leaning on Kerr for support. "Yeah, that's fine," he nodded and they walked the rest of the way in silence which they savored. When they reached the arcade, they found everyone crowding around Ami who was as usual, kicking butt at the Sailor V game before she had to go to a computer class. Everyone but Haruka and Michiru, that is. They were over by a racing game on the other side of the arcade. "Hota-chan!" Chibi-Usa cried, running to Hotaru. Kerr kind of winced at this but he winced even more when Mamoru came out from behind the shadows of Makoto's head. "Hello Chibi-Usa, how was your day?" Hotaru smiled down to the pink head. "Okay, I guess. Hi, Kerr," Chibi-Usa replied, then she ran back to Mamoru and almost immediately got into a fight with Usagi. "Hello Hotaru, how was your day?" Mamoru said with some relative degree of pleasantry. "Hi Mamoru. Oh, it was fine, pretty long, but fine," Hotaru smiled. She liked Mamoru enough, but felt awkward when he and Kerr were in the same room together. She also knew she had to be nice to him for Chbi-Usa's sake. "Hey, Mamoru, great party the other night. It was one of your bests." Kerr said sarcastically with a smirk. He put his sunglasses on top of his head and brushed hair out of his eyes coolly. "So glad you liked it. Sorry there wasn't any booze or alcohol, but the law, you know, kinda prevented me. Were there enough girls for you?" Mamoru shotback. "Hey, you know, you do what you can. Yeah, there were plenty of girls, but I only picked one." Kerr retorted coolly as ever and hugged Hotaru a little closer to him. She grinned a little, but exchanged it for a worried look. "Yeah, the wrong one, bucko. But hey, maybe the rape statistics will get lowered while you two are together, so there's a plus," After he was done speaking, Usagi came forward and tried to intervene, but her precious Mamo-chan pushed her away. "At least I know how to treat my girl and I don't push her aside like some old toy." Kerr returned. "Really. Is that so? Well, have you ever kept anything from Hotaru? Anything at all?" Mamoru growled. Kerr raised an eyebrow and gave him a strange look. "Can't say I have. She knows about my reputation that's been going around.. That's about all there is to me, so, what can you do?" Kerr said even more coolly than ever. Mamoru stepped right in front of him and gave him a menacing glare. Hotaru tried to come between and stop the argument, but Mamoru pushed her down and into the UFO game machine. A stream of blood trickled from her lip, which she bit on the way down. "Hota-chan! Mamo-papa, what did you do that for? She's my best friend!" Chibi-Usa cried to him, eyes brimming with tears. "Good question, Chibi-Usa. Why did you do that to her?" Kerr said, putting an arm around Chibi-Usa. Mamoru turned to Usagi and the other girls. "Usagi, girls, all of you just go home and take Chibi-Usa with you. This does not concern you." Mamoru barked, pointing to the door. All of the girls but Ami and Makoto crept out. Ami and Makoto knelt by Hotaru's side and tried to help her, but Mamoru's glare sent them sneaking out. However, when Hotaru hit the machine, her hand slapped some buttons and flying out of the game was a Tuxedo Kamen doll and a Sailor Saturn doll with a tiny plastic Glaive. The Tuxedo Kamen hit the floor fist and bounced a little onto its back. Then Sailor Saturn came soaring down, like a lion pouncing on its prey. The Glaive pierced the cheap felt fabric right through its "heart". As all of this was going down, Kerr and Mamoru were shooting insults to each other like bullets at the O.K. Corral. As the Glaive pierced Tuxedo Kamen, Mamoru transformed and became Tuxedo Kamen, clutching his heart. Kerr stared down at Tux and then looked over at Hotaru in astoundment. She stared at the dolls blankly and then stood up. The Saturn doll began to glow purple and then floated towards Hotaru, who was also glowing purple. The two walked into each other and seemed to fuse. Then Hotaru's sleeves disappeared and became her trademark "firefly" sleeves. Her skirt lengthened and became more flowing at the bottom. The whole ensemble flashed and became purple. She now held the Silence Glaive in her hand and a purple tiara sat on her forehead. She was now Princess Saturn. Tux blinked and came too once again and the first thing he saw was Princess Saturn's Glaive staring him in the face, pointed at his nose. "It is unwise to disturb the Silence." She stated, anger burning in her purple eyes. Mamoru gulped and rose to his feet, the Glaive at his nose the whole way up. When he was standing, he slipped a hand in his jacket and pulled out a blood-red rose, secretly. "Perhaps the Silence shouldn't be so loud then!" He cried, winging the rose at he face. But it failed, for suddenly at her side, was Prince Kerr of the Asteroid, clutching the quivering rose in the hand. "One day the Silence will rule us all. Don't make today the day, Tuxedo Kamen." He said, garbed in his Prince outfit. It was simple, yet stylish. He wore a black mandarin collared shirt with black dress pants. On the slim belt he wore a jewel-encrusted scabbard, but Tux didn't care to find out what the sword inside looked like. "Please don't kill me, please!" Tux begged on his knees. "No, I won't, but my spirit almost did so consider yourself lucky. But remember, the Glaive does not forget, Tuxedo Kamen." Saturn warned, taking the Glaive out of his face and back by her side. Then the brave Tuxedo Kamen slithered out of the arcade and into the nearby alley. When he was gone, Saturn fell into Kerr's arms. He held her close for a moment, and then they pulled away some. "I can't believe I finally found you." Saturn breathed, resting her head on his chest. "I've been looking for you for a long time, my Princess." Kerr answered. "Is that what you've been doing all this time, looking for me?" she said happily, although the emotion was bittersweet. "Yes, it is. Now that I have found you, we will make up for the time we didn't have long, long ago." Kerr replied. Hotaru and Kerr were graciously accepted as something inevitable, like Usagi and Mamoru. Usagi and everyone else was angry with Mamoru for a while, but they eventually got over it, after he saved Usagi from the jaws of defeat, again. However, then tension between Kerr and Mamoru could be cut with a knife since they both sought revenge on one another. About a year and half after these events, Hotaru's birthday came, and so did a fateful knock came to her door while she was getting ready for a even more fateful "surprise" party...
